Bonjour! My name is Mackenzie Torcasio and I am so excited to get to know you all! First thing first, I should tell you all a little about me. I am a sophomore from Ohio and I am a dual major in french and biochemistry. I am a pre-med student and I LOVE to travel. I am an orientation leader, Seahawk link and a member of the french club! In my spare time, I work at Mission BBQ, nanny and hang with friends. My favorite place to study on campus is on the quiet side of Hanover on a bench on which nobody ever sits! After medical school, I plan to become an international doctor associated with the nonprofit and french organization Doctors Without Borders. My goal at UNCW is to learn as much as I can, academically and socially to prepare me for all aspects of the world. My goal beyond UNCW is to positively impact the world in a memorable and significant way.
I am generally a happy person and I love talking, traveling and eating. My favorite quote is "happiness is not a goal, it is a by-product of a life well-lived," by Eleanor Roosevelt. I think that anybody can achieve happiness by truly experiencing a full and hearty life. This is what I try to do each and every day! I love spontaneity, dreaming and taking risks. Honesty is one of the most important qualities to me in a friendship and relationship! The most important aspects of my life are friends and family and I think that with a strong support system, anything is possible. The best advice I can give to any of you would be to GET INVOLVED. I personally experienced the great effects of becoming involved; your friend group expands dramatically, you feel more connected to UNCW and you learn important life skills. my favorite tradition at UNCW is oozeball! This is a huge mud volleyball tournament hosted by the student ambassadors and it is extremely awesome to see all groups from various organizations on campus bonding outside of our realms! I suggest you all to play!
